Details

My Newborn Sessions involve your sweetly sleeping baby + a variety of classic newborn poses, backgrounds, and simple props. These sessions are all done at my studio, and I have everything we need – from backdrops to swaddles, diaper covers to headbands, etc. This type of Session is best done within the first 14 days after birth, as fresh newborns move less and remain asleep far easier, and for longer stretches of time.

Investment begins at $600. Please contact me for more details.

Before

Before you come in for your newborn session, we will discuss everything in a phone or in person consultation. This can also be done before you book a session.

The day before you come for the session, you will receive an email with a Preparation Guide to help prepare you and the baby for the photo session.

I always want to be sure you are prepared and ready before you come in.

During

I have several years of experience with newborn soothing and relaxation techniques, so am comfortable calming baby if they start to become a bit fussy. I will, however, need your help if baby is hungry. but the rest of the time is yours to enjoy!

Newborn Sessions can take between 2-3 hours.

After

Your Portraits are reviewed and edited within 2-3 weeks. A proofing gallery is emailed with the best images from your session to choose from. Clients receive a range of poses photographed and approximately 30-50 images in a gallery depending on the package chosen.

Newborn Session Q&A

Do you photograph newborn sessions at home?

Not at this time. My sessions are done in my studio in Brighton where I have access to all my props and can better control lighting/temperature.

How long does it take to receive my photos after the session?

Your proofing gallery will be available and sent to you within 2-3 weeks. Thats when you will pick your images.

How many images do you provide in the proofing gallery?

I will edit a range of 30-50 images for you to choose from including black and whites. It depends on which collection was chosen (ex: Newborn only or Family Newborn Session). I always add all series we photograph so sometimes there will be a little more. If theres good photos, they wont be kept out.

Do you photograph newborn sessions on weekends?

Due to time it takes to prepare, shoot and clean after newborn sessions, I am only scheduling weekday sessions at this time.

Can siblings participate for my newborn session?

Yes. Clients may bring siblings towards the end of the session for parent/siblings portraits.

Do you offer dresses for parent photos?

Yes, a variety of dresses are available for mothers for parent shots.

When should I book my session? Before the baby is born or after?

I highly recommend booking as soon as you are ready. I take very limited amount of babies per month due to the length of this session. During busy seasons like spring, fall and Christmas, my agenda gets full very fast so booking early is highly recommended. I very rarely will take last minute newborns for that reason.

How old are babies for newborn sessions?

I dont recommend going past 2 weeks as they are sleepier and very flexible within the first two weeks of life.

How long does a newborn session last?

If we are photographing baby only, it takes approximately 2-2.5 hours. If we are doing parent/siblings after, it can take 3-3.5 hours. It all depends on the baby's cooperation and sibling's cooperation.

How many poses do you do ?

Every baby is different so with that said, I dont plan a set number of setups or exact poses. I normally do some naked shots first and prop shots after but no set amount of poses/setups. Sometimes certain babies dont like being naked, so most of the gallery will be wrapped shots.
