How to Prepare

For Baby Before the shoot, please feed baby 2-3 hours prior, and plan on feeding him/her right before you leave the house! All babies are different and have different demands so you dont need to starve your baby if he or she is hungry just try to time it so that you can feed right before you leave for the session if possible. Also, please do not let baby sleep beforehand, instead try giving baby a bath, let baby kick with only a diaper, tickle baby's toes, and even let baby fuss for a little bit (no pacifiers) for the the 90 min to 2 hours beforehand. This will ensure those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures! Try your best!

It will be at least super warm in the studio. Due to this, I come dressed for a warm few hours and suggest you do too!

Sessions last between 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper, or is hungry! The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed off and on.

If you can, bring the soothie pacifier. Even if you haven’t used one, just for the 2 hours that I’m posing him/her usually really helps.

One more tip: Bring the baby wearing something easy to remove like zipper pajamas.

We will begin the session with baby only. That usually takes about 60-90 minutes max if baby isnt too fussy/awake. If you are doing the Family Newborn Package, we will do sibling shots right after the baby(if applicable) then the full family and finalize with parents and baby. Toddlers can sometimes be tough cookies, that is one other reason I like you to bring them last. They get there when we are ready to shoot, they dont loose any energy or get tired of being there. Practice with them before hand, explain what they will be doing. If you dont have help to bring them towards the end, no problem. Just bring something to keep them entertained.

Parent Shots: Mom

I have a variety of gowns here in the studio, but you’re welcome to bring your shirt or dress you own as well. Just be sure that Mom & Dad are cohesive in colors.

If you are being photographed, have at least the hair done so that it looks clean/neat on photos. Hair is the one thing that cannot be edited/photoshopped.

You dont need makeup if you dont feel like it but having at least the hair done will make you feel and look good for photos. You are welcome to bring hair products and makeup to get it done at the studio. I begin shooting the baby only so that will give you about 60-90 minutes to get ready.

Parent Shots: Dad

Bring a tight fitting v-neck or t-shirt to wear with a good, snug pair of jeans. Make sure to keep colors neutral like white or gray or something that matches what everyone is wearing.

Siblings

What to Expect

Sister(s): Neutral outfit or dress. Just as with mom.
Brother(s): A snug pair of jeans and a white t-shirt works perfectly as well. Neutrals work best for these or light colors also.

Parents be aware: Children are very unpredictable. Sibling shots will all depend on their mood the day of. We will try our best, just try not to expect too much from them. Make this a fun activity, not a job. Sometimes they want nothing to do with photos and thats ok, it happens. Keep that in mind!

Studio Rules - Please Read

  • If anyone is sick in your family, please avoid coming to the studio. If mom/dad/sibling is sick, please let me know asap so that we can reschedule your session. For the safety of all our babies, nobody is allowed to come in sick to the studio.
  • You are welcome to watch from the chair that is near where I will be posing the baby. I just ask parents/siblings, please don't stand next to me or right behind me while shooting as it can be distracting.

I look forward to working with you!
