There's truly nothing sweeter than the first days at home with a new baby- and capturing that beautiful chapter through a lifestyle session is an experience like no other.
The beauty of this session is in the details: the nursery, that newborn scent, and a sleepy baby cradled in mom and dad's arms. These are the real moments.This is the beginning of your baby's story, captured where it all begins-with love, in the heart of your home.
Id recommend feeding baby right before I arrive for your session. This will ensure that baby's belly is full and we should have a happy baby. If you'd like nursing photos, you can feed during our session whenever baby wants to eat.
Id also suggest trying to keep baby awake for about an hour prior, that way we can try to achieve some sleeping and/or awake portraits.
Turn up that heat or possibly turn off the AC during our session if warm out. Babies love being warm and this will ensure a happy comfortable baby. It doesn't have to be too hot but comfortable enough if baby is wearing a onesie only.
In your home, we will use the areas that are most well lit. I do love shooting in areas such as baby nursery, parents bedroom and/or living room. Id ensure the area is tidy to remove any distractions or clutter (places like nightstands, baby's crib/shelves).
If there are any special or important props/accessories you'd like to include, please have them all together and ready to go when I arrive. That way we won't forget or miss anything.
Great outfit options for baby would be a simple, delicate romper that is snug or a plain white onesie. Avoid any clothes that are bulky. Swaddles are also a great option to have for some swaddled photos. I can bring some simple onesies/rompers as well for variety.
In home sessions are delicate, so Id suggest delicate outfits. Id avoid dark or bold colors. This session calls for creams, whites, soft pastel colors. Great options are flowy dresses, jeans and a cute simple cream sweater or laid back light colored lounge outfit. If you need help or want my opinion on your outfit, please email me.
The same applies for dads, keep it simple. I personally love the jeans/white t-shirt look or khaki pants with a plain t-shirt or sweater. Keep the colors light and neutral.
For the boys Id suggest jeans/khaki pants with a plain white or neutral t-shirt or sweater and for girls flowy dresses that have some kind of details or textures are great. Delicate florals, neutral colors are all great. Target, Zara, H&M and Old Navy have great options for these.
